Minneapolis Police Target Gun Violence Using Location Analytics:
The Minneapolis Police Department is using GIS technology as a resource for prediction and prevention of gun violence in the Metro area. Acoustic gunfire sensors are placed throughout the city, then used to quickly triangulate the location of an active shooter. This location data is later analyzed to determine patterns and trends in crime activity, helping officers prioritize their efforts efficiently. GIS Tips & Tricks

When we learn something new or helpful, we like to pass it along.

Have a list of addresses that you need to map? ArcGIS Online has a simple workflow to help you geocode those addresses!

First, enter your addresses in a CSV file with each aspect of the address in a new column. In ArcGIS Online, navigate to your content and add an item from your computer.

ArcGIS Online is smart enough to recognize the address fields and prompt you to create a hosted layer from the data! Follow the steps shown and you’ll be able to add your addresses to a map in no time! Read more about the process here!
